Have you ever felt like you marched to the beat of a dif-ferent drummer? When I was younger, I was often called a dreamer. It was usually said in a reproachful way, as though by setting my sights on anything above or outside of “the norm,” I would be wasting time and energy better spent living according to the expectations of those around me.
Growing up, I can remember a distinct feeling that I was different from my peers. Not better, not worse, just dif-ferent, as though I did not fit in. I spent a lot of time ex-amining this feeling: Why me? Why do I feel this way? Why can’t I just be like everyone else? Why am I being criticized for thinking differently? Is it really such a bad thing?
That feeling made for a lonely existence at times, espe-cially as a child, but the fact that I didn’t always relate to other children allowed me to expand my imagination and have deep, searching conversations with myself. I came to believe that I would do something truly mean-ingful with my life.
Many of you might find it hard to believe, but I am in-troverted by nature. At various points in my life, I have struggled with my self-confidence. I didn’t always have the presence of mind and sense of self that I do now. Strong-willed people are often misunderstood; their ambition and determination can easily be misconstrued. There were times I gave in and tried to become the per-son the world seemed to expect me to be. It felt good to fit in for a while, but I knew I was pretending and that feeling wouldn’t last. God kept calling me to find some-thing greater inside of myself. The journey would most certainly not be easy, but nothing worth doing ever is.
Through trial and tribulation, trial and error, and many ups and downs, I found a way to break through to become the man I was born to be. I didn’t let the world break me and neither should you. Inside this book are the 6 Principles to Reset Your Life and Become Unbreakable.
